Psychologist, Trauma & Couples Therapist in The Hague and online

I’m Giouli Chrysikou, a psychologist, trauma therapist and couples therapist working with individuals, couples, families, and groups in English and Greek.

My work supports people who are navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, cultural adjustment, emotional disconnection, and the deeper patterns that keep them stuck in survival mode.

Today, my work brings together clinical training, personal depth, and a strong belief that healing happens through relationship.

Psychology has always been my passion.

My journey into psychology started with my own need to understand myself more deeply.

In my late 20s, I began individual psychotherapy to gain more self-awareness. That experience opened something important in me. I continued with group therapy, and around the same time, I began training as a group, couples, and family therapist from a systemic approach.

This combination shaped the way I work today.

I believe therapy is not only about solving symptoms. It is about understanding how we relate: to ourselves, to others, to our past, to our bodies, to our families, to our choices, and to the roles we learned to carry.

Over the last years, I have worked with Greek and international clients, supporting people through anxiety, trauma, depression, panic attacks, cultural adjustment, relationship difficulties, and the emotional complexity of building a life away from familiar systems and supports.

The struggles I support

People often come to me when they are facing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, trauma, low self-esteem, depression, panic attacks, relationship difficulties, or a sense that something in their life no longer feels aligned.

I support clients with:

  • anxiety, depression, and panic attacks

  • trauma and PTSD

  • low self-esteem and self-doubt

  • relationship difficulties and disconnection

  • couples and family conflict

  • parenting challenges

  • expat life and cultural adjustment

  • loneliness and emotional isolation

  • work-related stress and relationship dynamics

  • self-abandonment, boundaries, and patterns of over-adaptation

  • group therapy and relational growth

MY APPROACH

I work relationally, systemically, and with respect for your pace.

My therapeutic approach is integrative.

This means I do not use one method for every person. I listen to who you are, what you bring, what your nervous system can hold, and what kind of support is needed in this moment of your life.

My work is influenced by:

  • Systemic Therapy

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy

  • EMDR

  • Schema Therapy

  • Psychodynamic Therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

  • Solution Focused Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • trauma-focused techniques

Trauma & EMDR

Trauma work needs safety, care, and respect for timing.

I work with clients who have experienced trauma and PTSD, integrating EMDR and other trauma-focused techniques when appropriate.

Trauma can affect the way you feel in your body, the way you relate to others, the way you respond to conflict, and the way you see yourself. In trauma work, we move carefully. The goal is not to force memories open, but to support the nervous system in processing painful experiences with more safety and less overwhelm.

EMDR can help reduce the emotional intensity of distressing memories and support healing, integration, and resilience.

Couples & Family Therapy

Relationships are where many of our deepest patterns become visible.

Couples and family therapy are important parts of my work.

Many couples come to therapy because they are stuck in patterns of conflict, distance, misunderstanding, silence, or emotional disconnection. Often, the problem is not simply communication. It is the emotional cycle underneath the communication.

In couples therapy, I help partners understand each other more deeply, recognize the patterns that keep repeating, and build more honest, intimate, and fulfilling relationships.

My work with couples and families is informed by Systemic Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy, both of which support a deeper understanding of the emotional and relational patterns between people.

Group Therapy

Healing can become powerful when it happens in a group.

I love working with groups because they offer something unique.

In a group, you can begin to see that you are not alone in what you carry. You can hear yourself through other people’s stories. You can practice being seen, speaking honestly, receiving support, and relating differently.

I facilitate in-person group therapy sessions in The Hague for people struggling with anxiety, negative thinking, relationship issues, and loneliness. These groups offer a supportive environment where people can share, reflect, and learn from one another.
